WORK AT HOME FOR MOMS – INTERNET BASED OPPORTUNITIES
In my last article I discussed some ways you can have an internet based ‘job.’ Today, I will be discussing the difference between a ‘job’ and an ‘opportunity.’
As previously stated, a ‘job’ is where an individual or company hires you for services you can provide.
A work at home opportunity is different. You are NOT punching a time clock. You generally do NOT have a boss. In essence, most work from home opportunities teach you a skill – either writing or creating a product – and then show you how to market yourself so you can make money from that particular platform.
YOU’RE THE BOSS
In general, work at home opportunities show you how to create and run your very own business. This can be as simple as writing a few blogs for other people’s websites (see my review on Blogmutt) or starting your very own blog – which is essentially your very own company! (see my review on Wealthy Affiliate).
You can also create products and sell them on websites such as Amazon, Esty, or Ebay. These types of at home businesses allow you to use your skills and creativity! But you MUST know how to market yourself and get your product on the market! One of the best ways to do that is to create your own website!
Writing books! If you have some novels – or even just short stories, you can e-publish them on Amazon. It’s best to offer some free shorter stories and build your audience, then offer them some longer reads for a small cost.
A BUSINESS WILL MOST LIKELY HAVE SOME START UP COSTS
When you’re looking at creating an online business, like any other business, you should expect to have some start up costs. Obviously, you need the internet. (Which you can write off on your taxes as a business expense!) But even something as simple as a website will cost – at least a little.
Sure, you can make free websites out there all you want, but if you want your site to have the best search engine optimization (meaning a site that Google will easily find), then you should ideally purchase your own domain. But most of the time a domain will cost you less than $20/year.
Even if you decide to sell fashionable baby hair bows (Yes, that’s a thing) you will have to front the money for supplies needed. As with any business, you should expect to put some money in beforehand before turning a profit. Even if it’s as little as $5!
Always find reputable reviews of any website offering to ‘sell you something.’ Most companies should offer a free trial so you can see if their platform will fit your particular needs.
THE BIGGEST COST FOR ANY START UP BUSINESS…
Yes, you may have to invest some money. But the most important thing you have to invest if your TIME. It takes time to grow a business and be successful. You have to be willing to have patience – especially in the beginning.
BUT IF YOUR BUSINESS IS YOUR PASSION, PRESS ON! NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS!
