How to Make Money from Home Buying and Selling Websites
Starting and running your own website can be a great way to make working from home a reality. However, there are other ways you can make money with websites that don’t actually involve you running them. Much like the real estate market, you can buy and sell websites for a nice profit if you know what to look for and how to go through the process.
Let’s take a look at how this works so that you can get started right away:
Where to find Buyers and Sellers:
There are a couple of different places where you can find people looking to buy and sell a website, so let’s look at these different options and discuss their advantages and disadvantages.
#1 Public Marketplaces
Right now, there are several different websites you can use to list your business for sale. They’ll help connect you with buyers that are ready to submit an offer. Expect to pay a fee to have your website listed, though, but know that this fee helps make sure your listing is exposed to a large number of potential buyers.
Some of the more popular marketplaces are Flippa and Ackwired, and what’s nice about these sites is that you are dealing with motivated buyers who are ready to make an offer right away, meaning you should be able to get your site sold rather quickly.
There is one downside to using public marketplaces: it’s hard to get a high asking price. Buyers that use marketplaces are always looking for a deal, and if you don’t undervalue the website, you may find that it’s hard to actually get it sold.
Another potential drawback to these platforms is that the large number of listings and huge publicity that marketplaces receive means there are a large number of scams, too You’ll have to tread lightly and make sure you’re using a reputable escrow service to get the deal done.
When you want to make the process as easy as possible and position your website to get the highest asking price, you’ll want to work with a broker to help you sell your website.
Brokers can help you uncover the true value of your website, identify the perfect buyers and even pitch your website to these groups or individuals. You won’t have to worry about taking care of any documents or negotiating the contract, and you can rely on the broker to close the deal on your behalf.
They can also help you find new websites to buy. Since they deal with both buyers and sellers, they are often very helpful in connecting the two parties so that everyone can find the right deal. So, if you work with a broker to sell a website, consider letting him or her know you’re also interested in buying one, as they can use their network to help you find something to your liking.
#3 Personal Networks
Another strategy you can use is to handle the entire process by yourself. You will have to locate the buyers, give them the information they need to move forward, negotiate your way through the deal, and handle the paperwork to finalize the deal.
For the work you’re putting in, though, you save on both listing fees through a public marketplace and the fees that a broker charges for their services.
However, this can be a bit trickier if you’re new to this game, as you’ll likely need to reach out to fellow bloggers, advertisers or competitors to be able to generate interest for the site and find a buyer. This can be difficult in the beginning and is one of the major downsides to trying to go it alone.
What to look for in sites you buy
Now that you know where to look for buyers and sellers, let’s take a look at what you should be looking for when deciding whether or not to buy the site.
What’s it worth?
Generally speaking, a website is worth 2.5 times its yearly revenue, so you’ll want to get a hold of the sites financial records to be able to make an offer in line with what the site is worth. Next, you’ll want to look at its position in the marketplace, its potential for growth and any risks it might be facing in the future. You can use these to raise or lower your asking/offering price to make sure you’re getting the best deal.
How much work is required to run it?
To make a profit buying and selling websites, you’ll need to spend a little time working on the site to make it more valuable on the open market. Take a look at how the site is set up now to see if you can easily replicate processes to make the website work without having to spend too much time on it. This practice ceases to be profitable if you’re sinking hours and hours into running the site and making it profitable. It should be a relatively turnkey operation.
What’s its SEO profile?
The way a site performs with search engines is a huge determiner of value. So, before you go into any purchase, have a look at the site’s backlink profile and see if it’s ranking for any valuable keywords. Buying a site Google already considers to be an authority is a huge boost, as it will make it easier for you to grow it and sell it for a higher price.
While running websites is certainly a great way to make money while working from home, you can expand this to website flipping, the buying and selling of websites, which can also bring you a nice income. And, since you’ll constantly be working on something new, it’s a good way to keep your work exciting and interesting.

If you’ve been searching for ways to make money from home – or you have a skill that you want to outsource, you’ll probably end up looking for a position as an Independent Contractor. The lines between Independent Contractor vs. Employee may be confusing at first. If you’re going to sign an Independent Contractor Agreement, there are some things you need to be aware of beforehand that will save you the headache of the IRS later.
Independent Contractor Agreement
When you sign on as an Independent Contractor, you are agreeing to trade your skills or a specific service for a monetary stipend. Each company will have their own rules/guidelines and the pay will vary. Some companies will give you an hourly wage while others will pay you per completed assignment.
Companies such as Working Solutions hire independent contractors to be outsourced to a wide variety of companies with many different job opportunities. However, the most popular types of positions are customer service jobs which may or may not include incoming and outgoing sales calls.
Make sure you read all the fine print in your independent contractor agreement before signing!
Independent Contractor VS Employee
As an Independent contractor you may or may not have a constant stream of work. Successful Independent Contractors will work with more than one company if they wish to make being an I.C their full-time job or sole source of income.
Many companies will require a background check to be done at the expense of the I.C.
While you have more freedom to choose your working hours as an Independent Contractor, some companies require a specific number of hours per week with specific time slots that need to be filled.
With an Independent Contractor Agreement, your pay is perhaps the most vital difference! You will not be taxed before receiving your paycheck. This means that you will have to pay your taxes during tax season. If you make more than $600 with any given company, you will have to file your taxes to comply with the IRS standards.
Why do employers do this? It’s because they don’t have to pay their portion of taxes to the government as they would an employee. It’s similar to being self-employed. You can expect to pay about 30% of your wages in taxes – OUCH! I know it hurts, but that’s the price you pay when you trade an employee position for an I.C – where you are essentially your own boss.
Most Independent Contractors hire a CPA to handle their taxes… I do! And it’s easier to pay quarterly taxes or at least set the money aside throughout the year so it’s not a big blow on your wallet come tax season.
My Favorite Independent Contract company that I personally work for is called VIP Kids! I teach kids English based on VIP Kid’s set curriculum. If you like teaching, you may want to try this out! Click here to get more information!
(I just started with this company, but will create an entire blog post dedicated to my experiences soon! But so far, I’m Loving it! The pay is great too!)
While each company requires different things from their Independent Contractors, MOST require:
A fast internet connection – if you’re working online (where most contractor jobs are performed).
A quiet work environment
Hours to dedicated – this is a JOB. Just because you may be working from home does not mean you get to slack off and expect to be paid!
Continued training – most likely unpaid
Pros of entering into an Independent Contractor Agreement:
You have more control over the hours you work
Most likely you’ll work from home
You can make good money
You can choose from many fields and use your talents accordingly
There might be costs upfront (background check, specific equipment, etc…)
***However, do not PAY to apply for a job – these are scams 99% of the time!
It might be hard to get started
It takes time to build up a steady stream of work
You’re on the hook for your own taxes

Full Disclosure: Each State and country has their own rules for Independent Contractors! Please check your state’s guidelines often to make sure you’re in complete compliance.
If you want to make money with a website, then you need TRAFFIC! It’s no secret that the higher your rank in Google (or any search engine) the more traffic you will receive. Check out these 7 Organic and FREE hacks to learn how to increase traffic on YOUR website!
Here are steps that you can take now! Learn how to get more traffic to your website!
*This tutorial is based on using WordPress as your hosting site.
WHAT YOU NEED BEFOREHAND
To get started, here are the tools you need to have ready before using this strategy.
Content – if you want to follow these steps now, have your content, or blog ready to go
Google Search Console/Webmaster – for this, you will need a Gmail account. It’s free and easy to set one up. Once you have a Gmail account, just go to google.com/webmasters to set up and access your information.
HOW TO ORGANICALLY IMPROVE YOUR GOOGLE RANKING
Image inside your content – To get Free Images to use for your website, a good resource is CANVA.
*Video embedded – not always necessary, but it helps to have a video associated with a page/post. Plus, YouTube is owned by Google and Google likes its own stuff!
SEO PACK (WordPress users) – you can install the All In One SEO pack under the Plugins tab on your dashboard. Add new, search All in One SEO, install and activate.
STEPS TO TAKE EVERY TIME YOU POST!
These are the steps you should take every time you post if you want Google to rank your website at the top of their search engine.
*NOTE, I use WordPress, so this tutorial will be based on their set-up. But you can use these steps in accordance to your own hosting site’s platform.
After you’ve written your content and you have your Google Search Counsel set up – these are the other steps you need to take before you post and directly after you post.
BEFORE YOU POST
Meta Title – In your dashboard, scroll down below your post. You should add a Meta title: The default will be the title of your post, but you can alter it/shorten it to make it look more appealing in a Google Search.
Meta Description – add a short description of your post. Highlight the main points.
Keyword in Content – use a strong keyword in your content. For my #1 recommendation on Keyword Tools Click HERE.
Alt tag in your Featured Image
After setting your featured image, add an ALT TEXT in the description.
Internal Link – Somewhere in your content, link to another page of your own website. Either the Homepage or another post that elaborates on some of the ideas in your current post.
External Link – add an external link to another website.
IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOU POST
Share your post on Google Plus: Use your Meta Title and Description – exactly how it appears below your post! Then add your own comments below asking people for their opinions. Try to engage them in some way.
Fetch as Google – this is done in your Google Search Console
Request Sitemap – also done in your Google Search Console
Request comments from friends! Ask your friends to visit your site and post a comment on the page – not on Facebook, not on Google Plus – but the actual comment section of the post on your website.
Once you’ve completed these steps – just sit back and wait for your post to move up the ranks!
Yes, do this for every post! Yes, go back and do this for your old posts!
WHY DO SITES RANK FASTER THAN OTHERS?
There are a lot of reasons why your site might not be ranking as high in a Google Search engine as you would like. It takes time for Google to trust a website – it doesn’t happen just because you’ve selected your domain name.
Domain Age – If you’ve just bought your domain or transferred an existing website, it will take time for Google to recognize. So be patient.
Site Age – If you’re a newbie, just keep pressing on. You’ll get there.
Trust Flow – Remember that Google is a business and they won’t trust your site right away. Google wants to provide the best information to its customers, so you have to put in the time to build trust with Google.
Frequency of Content – the more you post, the more your earn Google’s trust.
Overall Content – Google wants quality content – not just a bunch of ‘fluff’ pages. It recognizes this by using keywords throughout your site and tries to find a common theme. It wants to know what you’re writing about – so be consistent!
Content Engagement – ask your friend’s to comment and then REPLY to ALL comments made on your site. The more sociable the site is, the more trust Google will have and the higher you will rank.
But overall, give it TIME.

Why A Blog
The first thing you should decide is why you want to start a blog? Is it to make money? Is it to keep an online diary of sorts, or possibly an online portfolio?
My son keeps a blog about the things he is learning in our homeschool so when he goes to college, he’ll have a terrific resume – and experience with blogs and computers!
There are many types of blogs – political, fashion, DIY, life skills, etc.… You can literally find a blog about ANYTHING!
So, why you do want to start a blog? The answer to this question will help you decide on a number factors, from how much time you want to devote to you blog, how you will market your work, and if you want to keep a free blog or pay for your own domain.
Finding a Host Site
There are many FREE site host options when it comes to starting a blog. Each has its own pros and cons along with the complexity of the site builder.
Some of the most popular Free Host Sites Include:
However, if you choose to use a Free Blog site builder, then you will NOT be able to have your own domain.
Hosting Sites V.S. Domain Registration
There is some confusion about a web host verses domain registration. Your web host is the site that you will choose to host your blog on. If this is a FREE web host (Wix, Weebly, WordPress), then your domain will most likely include a (your site name).wix.com, or (your site name).weebly.com, or (your site name).wordpressblog.com.
If you choose to register your domain, you buy the right to use your website as an easily recognizable “.com” name. For example, 6figurehousewife.com.
The cost to buy a domain is fairly cheap – under $20/year.
If you have your own domain, then you will need to find a web host for your domain and most free sites won’t host a domain name. This means you will have to pay for a web host service.
Bluehost offers one of the cheapest domain hosts – you can start with under $4/month.
My Favorite FREE Host
Wealthy Affiliate is a web host service (along with many more features) that will host your WordPress blog as a .siterubix.com for FREE. AND if you choose to host your site in their free feature, you can still use their program as an affiliate (a way to make some money on the side).

The Managed WordPress hosting you have access to at WA is matched by very few hosts in the industry in terms of quality, security, speed, and support. It definitely is not a budget host like the other shared hosting companies out there. The hosting you get here at WA exceeds the quality of even top tier, $250 per month hosting packages.
You can host up to 25 of your own domains and 25 free siterubix websites on your Premium hosting platform here at WA. This is a total of 50 websites.
Go ahead! Type in the name of your website and get started TODAY! It’s really THAT Easy!
They recently rolled out our “Free SSL for ALL” platform so all of your websites can now be fully encrypted with your own SSL certificates with the toggle of a button. As the Internet moves forward in the year ahead, it is going to be absolutely essential to have SSL on your sites for rankings in Google and other search engines as it is now part of the ranking algorithms. These are typically $50 per year per website, but are included absolutely FREE with all of your websites that you host at WA. If you have 25 domains, that is a value of $1,250 per year alone (if you were hosting your websites elsewhere).
They have some of the brightest minds working on developing and advancing the hosting platform at WA at a pace MUCH faster than the industry. They know WordPress, they know hosting, they know security, they know speed, and they simply understand technology. You are in safe hands at WA.You also get access to our Premium 24/7/365 hosting support. Unlike other hosts, you are getting access to server administrators (not help desk) where they can get to the root of any hosting problems you have with incredible efficiency.
These are just the ‘behind the scenes features you get inside the Wealthy Affiliate Hosting platform. They are my #1 Recommendation – though I will admit that I might be biased because that’s who I personally use. I have found great success with their program training and I trust them with my website.
I cannot attest to the services other web hosting platforms provide. But here is a list of other popular platforms on the internet.
Other Popular Hosting Sites:
Blue host has become increasing popular over the years and it seems to be the ‘go-to’ for those who want a word press website. They tend to be one of the cheapest hosing services and they are great for small business owners, and they do offer one-on-one training.
Here are some other popular features they claim to have (again, I’m not with this company so I can’t attest to their credibility):
Why Might You Choose Bluehost?
1 FREE domain registration
Unlimited domain hosting
1-Click MOJO Marketplace installations
Free drag-and-drop site builder
Unlimited disk storage
Unlimited IMAP & POP3 e-mail support
Our technical support leads the industry and is located here in the USA.
They offer 24/7 chat, email and phone support to our customers.
Go Daddy is one of the largest hosting companies in the world! Especially, if you are into flipping websites, Go Daddy might be a good option for you! They will auction off domains and if you know what you’re doing, you can flip them for profit! They are one of the biggest domain registration companies in the world and they allow you to purchase domains in bulk!
Host Gator is one of the most affordable companies for purchasing your own domain. You can also use their free website builder with WEEBLY if you’re just starting out and are looking for a free website. Their ‘drag and drop’ option makes it a great place to start.
You are not required to sign up for any contract longer than month to month service. They have no setup fees on any of our plans.
HostGator provides over 150,000 customers with innovative products and services designed to complement their existing businesses. From Freelancers, to Fortune 500 companies in more than 170 countries worldwide, we grow at an outstanding rate each day.
In 2008, HostGator was recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest growing private companies in America. According to Inc. Magazine, HostGator is the 21st fastest growing private company in America, the second fastest growing private company in the “business services” sector, and the fastest growing private company in Texas.
Wix can be utilized for FREE for those just starting out, but you will need to upgrade if you want to increase your storage space and bandwidth. It’s great for those just starting out, but if you want to own your own domain, you have to upgrade and your upgrade is only good for one website domain.
Please note that choosing a hosting service is only step ONE in creating your own online Affiliate Marketing business.
Make sure this option is right for you! See How To Fail At Blogging | What to Consider Before You Try!
If you choose to join the Wealthy Affiliate Platform, not only will you have an amazing Host for all your website needs, but you will receive ongoing training and a wealth of community support as well!

AdSense, AdWords and Affiliate Marketing
Here are some blog tips for beginners with some need to know terminology.
I’ve been chatting in a few online forums with some newbie bloggers lately and a question that I have been getting asked a lot is “What is the difference between Google AdSense, Google AdWords, and Affiliate Marketing?” These terms can be confusing – especially if you’re brand new and trying to make your claim as an internet marketer.
This post contains Affiliate links. Please see my Private Policy | Disclosure page for more information.
If you are a new blogger or want to break into the business of blogging for money, check out my FREE Beginner’s Blogging Course.
So here are some terms that you will hear in the internet marketing world with an easily explained definition.
AdSense vs. AdWords
These two terms are very close and some people may get them confused. But they are very different in how they are used and what you need to do to utilize each service.
Google AdSense is when you ‘rent out space’ on your website for Google to place ads.
Have you ever browsed sites like Amazon or Wal-Mart.com and then you see those ads popping up everywhere on every website you visit? That’s because sites like Amazon and Wal-Mart are paying Google to place ads on the internet.
When you visit certain websites a ‘cookie,’ or simply a memory of what you have viewed online, is installed on your computer. That ‘cookie’ will then register with a website’s Google AdSense and try to remind you of what you have been searching to try and peak your interest at purchasing a product.
What This Means for You as a Blogger
If you, as a blogger, install Google AdSense then ads will show up on your blog or website based on the users’ cookies installed on their computer. If someone visits your blog, ads will show up based on their search history. Or it can be an ad that is similar in nature to the page a user is viewing on your website.
The Good News
Google AdSense if free for you to use and you get paid every time someone clicks on the ads from your website.
With Google AdSense you have no control over what ads are being displayed. And yes, you get paid every time someone clicks, but it can be as little as 2 cents per click. You might have heard to term PPC, or paid per click, advertising.
Your account also has to reach a balance of $100 before you can get paid. So, while you can see your money add up fast, it might take a while before you receive enough for a payout.
Google AdWords is the counterpart to Google AdSense. This is when YOU pay Google to place ads on other people’s websites. You can advertise your blog or own website with a service that you offer.
This is generally not a good option for beginner bloggers – as this service can be expensive and you will most likely need to generate income before shoveling out a lot of money for advertising.
But, once you have an established blog, this can be a great way to get noticed on the web. When you Google something, let’s say ‘cheap t-shirts,’ generally, ads will be placed at the top the search. That’s because these businesses have paid Google to advertise for them.
*Remember, Google is not just a search engine, it’s a business too!
AdWords is a great way to get noticed, but there is no guarantee that a user will click on your ad or make a purchase.
Additional training on Funnels and Landing pages is needed to understand the in-depth process. This is not necessarily something for beginners who don’t have knowledge of how this works or for those who don’t have an already established blog or have become an expert in their niche.
Affiliate marketing is different from Google AdSense because you have control over the ads you place on your website.
To read more about How Affiliate Marketing works, click HERE.
With Affiliate Marketing, you sign up to promote a company on your website via a widget ad (usually static ads off the to the side) or do a review of the product or service they offer. Because you have control of what you place and where, you can place ads that have a similar theme to your website. This is will help increase a visitor’s interest.
Unlike Google AdSense and the PPC, 99% of the time the user has to make a purchase from the advertiser before you can make money. The upside is that you can make a lot more with Affiliates per purchase than you can with Google AdSense per click.
Affiliate Marketing has its own techniques and there are certain ways of advertising that are better than others. This is MY preferred way of breaking into the internet marketing business and I have found this to be very successful in my own experience.
Bonus Ninja Tip
You can utilize BOTH Google AdSense and Affiliate Marketing on your website! You don’t have to choose. You can even play around with different types of marketing during different seasons and see what works best you.
Remember, this is YOUR business. There is no ‘right or wrong’ way of doing things. Every website is unique in the way they present information because every person behind the keyboard has their own unique way doing things.
The trick to internet marketing is to simply NOT GIVE UP. A website takes time to build a reputation. You can’t go into any marketing business and expect to make money overnight – no matter how many YouTuber’s claim to have done this. It simply DOES NOT HAPPEN. Don’t get fooled for shove out a bunch of money before considering ANY marketing program – there are scams out there and you need to be aware.
That being said, here is my #1 Recommendation for starting your own online business. It’s free to get started and it puts YOU in control of your future.

Thanks for your time and go Rock Life with your Blog or Website!
Whether you own a mom and pop shop on the corner of your local business district, or you run a dog boarding business out of your home – you need a website! And not only do you need a website, but if you own or run a business, you need to keep a blog!
10 REASONS ALL BUSINESSES NEED A BLOG
Okay, you might be thinking that it’s weird to keep an ongoing blog for certain businesses. Why would a local candy store need a blog?
#1. It’s estimated that 3.2 Billion people use the internet each day
That’s almost half the world’s population! I know your local business may not be trying to reach people halfway across the world, but think about many times you search the internet looking for local business advice?
This could be anything from a service you need done on your home, to just seeing what there is to do in your local neighborhood.
If you don’t have a website, you could be missing out on potential clients and potential money!
#2. Letting People Know You Exist
Whether you’re a new business or you’ve been doing this for 50 years, new people move into town every day! Even if you live in a rural area and the biggest city is 30 miles away, that’s still a huge market.
There are businesses in my hometown that I’m discovering every single day and some have been in business since before I moved here (that was almost 11 years ago!)
By having a website, not only can people new to the area find you, but you can also let others leave reviews of your products or services. If you run a website, you can control which reviews go public and which ones get deleted (because we all know there’s that ONE person out there who doesn’t like what you’re selling.)
#3. Google likes new content
What do I mean by this? Stop thinking about Google as a program and start thinking of it as a business. They are making money by providing the BEST information possible to their users. They don’t want to offer an out of date website when someone Googles a search.
This is why an ongoing BLOG is so important. Every time you post new content, Google sees this as an update for your website. If you never update, Google will think it’s a dead website (and let’s face it, have you ever run across a website that was WAYYY outdated? I know I have.)
Google isn’t perfect and it doesn’t go through every site individually, so by updating and providing new information on your site, Google will know for sure that you are still in business!
A blog is a simple, yet effective, way to communicate with people and let them know how passionate you are about your business! Let’s face it – people respond to people! When you make a customer service call, would you rather speak with a machine or a real person who can answer your questions?
By keeping a blog roll on your website, it lets people know that you are:
A REAL person
You care about your business
You care about your customer
#5. Social Marketing
Social media is all the rage these days and according to Pew Research Center, 62% of adults get their news information on social media.
Your business should have a blog, but also have social media accounts on popular networks like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. That way, if people don’t directly visit your website, they can find you and all your recent posts.
#6. Blogging is SEO Power!
When you consistently run a blog, you are not only updating your website, but it’s also getting indexed in Google under new keywords. This means that people who search for something initially unrelated might stumble upon your blog and fall in love with your product!
#7. Analytic Authority
Every website should have Google Analytics, or another analytic program. It’s free and gives you valuable information about the keywords people use to find their way to your site.
This way, you can see what people are searching that attracts them to your website or business and you can use that information to create new posts around those same keywords.

#8. Blogging Makes You Think Outside of the Box
When you’ve been in business for years and things start to slow down or just remain steady, blogging can be a great way to unleash your inner creativity and start thinking about new ways to promote your business! – Plus, it can be fun too!
#9. This is YOUR Brand and YOUR story
As I said before, people love people. You don’t always have to blog about your business. You can always let others get to know the “YOU” behind the curtain.
By intriguing people with stories about you personally and how you live your life, you can build relationships and have great PR power. When people trust you, they are more likely to do business with you.
#10. Blogging is CHEAP – (and you can make money from it!)
Yes, keeping a blog might require some time and effort, but most of the time, it’s completely free. It’s a great way to advertise your business. Plus, when you share a post on social media, that’s new potential customers you might have obtained for free.
And we all know that ads on a business website might seem a little tacky (especially for competing companies), but you can place ads on your blog roll. Using Google AdSense for your blog roll is a great way to earn a little money while trying to advertise your own business at the same time.

1. Let’s talk Google AdSense
By far, the easiest route to start monetizing your website is to install Google AdSense. Let’s face it, Google dominates the search engine industry and having them on your side is always a win! With AdSense, you are simply ‘renting out ad space’ on your website to Google.
I installed Google AdSense on a personal blog over two years ago. This was before I knew anything about blogging and I eventually gave up on it. I re-opened my account for this website and found out I had made over $2 with my old blog.
That doesn’t seem like much, but for just sitting on the internet without being touched is pretty good! I’ll take that!
It’s easy to get approved
It’s easy to install
It’s easy money
Once approved, you can add this to multiple websites
Google controls the ads based on the users search history – so they should be relevant to each user
You have to make $100 before you get paid
You get paid every time someone clicks on your ad, so that nice – but the payout is small compared to affiliate programs. Most clicks are only a few cents.
You DO have to have your own domain name before approval – but if you get approved once, you can add it to multiple sites
You have no control over what the ads are that are showing up on your website
2. Affiliate Programs
By adding affiliate programs to your website, you can control which ads are placed on your website and where. Affiliates are great way to sell other people’s products online. The difference between affiliates and AdSense is that the customer has to buy something before you get paid.
To find affiliates for your website simply search “product name + affiliate.”
Some Popular Affiliate Websites include: ShareaSale, CJ Affiliate, Rakuten, Clickbank
You make more money with Affiliates
You have control over what ads go on your website
There are many programs to choose from
Getting approved for most affiliates is hard without some existing traffic
People have to buy the product before you get paid
Affiliate sites can be confusing and hard to navigate without proper training – especially if you’re a newbie or don’t have previous knowledge about affiliate marketing
3. Amazon Associates
Amazon is another leading industry in the online marketing world. The Amazon Associates Program is similar to affiliate marketing, except that when you are approved, you can advertise ANY and ALL of Amazon’s items.
This is a huge advantage because almost everything you can think of is listed on Amazon. Plus, if someone heads to Amazon from your site, they don’t have to buy the product you advertised. If they buy ANYTHING from Amazon within your cookie duration, (usually 18 hours), then you will get credit for that sale!
Easy to get approved
Easy to find items to place on your website
Have a Huge Selection of items to choose from
Minimum payout is only $10 (by direct deposit or Amazon Gift Card)
Has a smaller cookie duration than other Affiliates
You don’t make as much commission with Amazon as other programs
If you don’t make a sale within your first 6 months, your account will become invalid
If you want to receive a check, minimum payout is $100 with a $15 processing fee
4. Newsletter and Email list
If you haven’t started capturing your visitor’s emails – you should start. Programs like Sumo and Mail Chimp offer features that can give visitors the option of signing up for your newsletter or to receive an email notification every time you create a new post.
This will allow you to stay in contact with your readers and give them a reminder that you are still there!
5. Sell Your own products or Products You Buy!
Yes, you can come up with your own products.
You can also offer your own ‘How To’ manuals, courses or eBooks.
Here’s a lesson on How to Add a PayPal Shopping Cart to your website!
You can choose to be an affiliate only website, an AdSense only website, or utilize both! This is YOUR website. Just make sure you create a fantastic ‘user’ experience.
Make sure you are solving the reader’s problems and showing them WHY they should listen to you.
If you can create a faithful audience who trusts you, then you will be able to sell them your products. You need to become an authority on the topics you are discussing.
To get a faithful audience to your website, you will need TRAFFIC! This means, you need SEO KEYWORDS.

Only sell products you endorse! Don’t try and sell items you wouldn’t buy – you will lose trust with your audience real quick if you do!
