WHO AM I?
So many words describe me – wife, mother, homeschool teacher, Marvel Enthusiast (Go Avengers!). But if I had to pick one phrase that describes me best, ‘jack-of-all-trades’ would be closest to the truth!
I live fairly modestly with my husband and our two biological children. We foster other children, so there’s always kids of different ages in and out of our home.
I love homeschooling my children and being directly involved in their education. Ironically, I am married to a public-school teacher AND a pastor.
(Just to clarify, I’m married to ONE man who is bi-vocational.) Both fields which don’t pay monetarily for as much as hassle as they’re worth. – Don’t get me wrong, both fields are AMAZING and you get benefits that surpass any monetary value.
But alas, no one can accuse me of being a gold digger! But seriously, I love my husband and my family. We’re a goofy bunch – but I wouldn’t trade them for a million dollars! (but if we’re talking two million….just kidding)
WHO I AM NOT
I am not someone who went to business school. I am not trained by the professionals at Harvard or Yale. I began my journey at Wealthy Affiliate University. But above all – I am NOT A QUITTER!
Growing up, I hated trying to sell anything. I would shun fundraisers at school and I never joined the Girl Scouts because having to knock on people’s doors to sell those cookies (amazing as they are) put the fear of God in me! In fact, I couldn’t sell a nickel for a penny if my life depended on it!
So many words describe me, but the new words I’m beginning to add to my list are “Business Woman” and “Emerging Internet Marketing Mom.”
HOW I FOUND MY WAY HERE
I’ve tried various work at home jobs in the past, but never felt satisfied. Mostly, I ended up feeling like a failure. I’ve tried mom blogging, I’ve tried writing – I wrote an entire self-help book that now collects dust above my computer desk.
But most importantly, I haven’t given up. I know I’ll pick up my book sooner or later. So maybe I didn’t fail as much as I learned what does and does not work in various seasons of life.
So now I’m on a Quest. A quest to find a profitable work at home solution to allow me to continue to stay home with my kids, help support the family financially, and give me a sense of accomplishment while allowing me to have a creative outlet.
I was introduced to Wealthy Affiliate University – an online training platform that teaches you how to successfully build a website for monetary gain by writing about subjects you love.
And thus was birthed The 6 Figure Housewife!
WHAT YOU’LL FIND
This is my blog about starting your own business from home, ways to earn extra cash, serious saving tips, budgeting, and growing your at home business. (It might seem like a lot – but seriously, this is my life!)
You can also read other great stories of other Real – Life Entrepreneur Moms who are running their own home businesses!
But essentially, this is my journey of what I do, how I do it, and the lessons I’m learning along the way.
Why THIS Blog?
My husband and I have always been good with money. We’ve never earned much, but we live with a minimalist mindset.
We’ve been the family of 4 that lived on less than $25k a year.
We know what it’s like to have one car – to wake up everybody early to drive dad to work in the rain.
We know what it’s like to only have $.02 in the bank account!
We’ve been there. But we made it. It’s funny to look back at our early marriage and wonder how we ever survived. But we did.
We’ve learned to budget, we got out of debt, and are constantly finding ways to save money on the bare necessities. These are things we know how to do and now it’s time to start scaling our income by showing others how to overcome what we’ve already overcame!
I want to make more so I can give more. I want to prepare for our future – both in my marriage for retirement (although that’s years away – I’m entering my 30’s in a few months – yikes!) and for my kids’ college education.
So, follow me along this money-making journey and find out what works for me and what doesn’t! Don’t forget to join the Facebook group, connect on Twitter, and find me on Pinterest! That way you’ll never miss a part of my story!
