My Affiliate Ad
The first thing to note when searching for a work at home job or opportunity is to keep an open mind. You might find yourself doing work in a field you never dreamed of before!
Alright, let’s get my affiliate marketing endorsement out first! This blog began when I started my search to make an extra income from home. I didn’t know anything about SEO or affiliate marketing when I first started – but now I make money doing it!
I would say it’s like a dream come true – but honestly, it’s a dream I never knew I had. But I love it and I find it very rewarding!

My Favorite Job Search Sites
Alright, now to the other stuff. I searched out many jobs and job opportunities. I found some good and bad. That is why I dedicated this site to do reviews on the companies that hire people just like YOU to work from the comfort of your own home!
You probably know how to use Google to search for jobs online or jobs from home. That could be an effective way to land an online job – but you will also come across a lot of scam companies as well!
Want to know the most popular scam on the market right now?
Click here to know what to stay away from!
The three sites I like to use most when searching for a work from home opportunity are:
You do have to create an account with these webistes, but I like the fact that I can search for and apply for jobs without having to pay a fee a do so through these companies.
There are many other sites out there too – but I don’t recommend paying for the privilege of searching for jobs. Just be careful what information you decide to hand out online. Work at home jobs are great – but you’re dealing with the world wide web and scam sites love to sell your information.
When searching for a work at home position, you should type in phrases such as “contract work,” “telecommute,” and/or “work from home.”
Keep in mind that just because you’re working from home, doesn’t mean you’ll qualify for every job. Some of the highest paying work at home positions still require you to be educated in a specific field or have related experience.
But don’t let that discourage you – there are plenty of entry level positions out there too!
To see a full list of companies that are hiring please see my Legit Work From Home Jobs page that lists all the companies along with my personal reviews.
Caution! Red Flags
You should never have to ‘pay’ a company to hire you.
Yes, there are a few exceptions such as paying for a background check – but do your research before signing up for a subscription to a company that promises you work.
If it’s too good to be true – it probably is.
I’ve looked for many years to find legit work from home. But even now that I’ve found some peace in the work that I do – it’s still work!
ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS research the company and look through online reviews before applying!
That is one of the reasons I love Glassdoor. You can search for work and find reviews right on their website!

If I died tomorrow and these were the last words I ever got to write – I’d be okay. That’s becuase I want to leave a legacy that inspires and motivates people to be their absolute best. I want you to be able to find motivation for life! So here are my top 7 motivational songs to help give you that kick in the butt you need to keep going!
Do you want the truth? Blogging is hard.
Most blogs only last about 6 months. Why is this?
It takes time.
Life gets in the way.
Most of us are doing it along side other ‘jobs’ or work related responsibiliites with the hope of one day making it our full time income – but that takes time. And after 6 months of practically trying to fit blogging into our already hectic lifestyles – it seems easier to give up and get a night shift job where we can see the monetary gain right away.
Blogging is hard.
I’m in between my 5th and 6th month of trying to blog on a regular basis for business purposes. I’ll be honest, my monetary gain I’ve made so far isn’t even close to what a minium wage job would pay – at least not for the countless hours I’ve spent pouring myself into it.
This past week, my computer’s hard drive went out. I had to install a completely new harddrive. I lost all my blog files. All my photo files. All my designs. Everything that was on my computer where I thought it was safe. I cried. I wanted to give up.
Blogging is hard.
Life is hard.
But if you truly want to make a blogging business work – or any business for that matter – you have to give it time. I know this. But if I can be frank – it still sucks sometimes.
Honestly, I Felt Like Giving Up
I wanted to hide away from the world. I felt like a failure. I felt so ashamed. And not to mention feeling guilty for feeling this way – knowing quite well that I have so much more than others in the world. Talking about my computer problems shows just how silly my ‘first world’ problems are.
So, after pulling myself off the ground and unwrapping from the fetal position, I decided to stop feeling sorry for myself. I know that if I want this – if I want to believe in myself, I need to keep writing. I need to keep researching.
No matter how hard.
No matter how long.
No matter what!
I am my biggest critic. I am my biggest threat.
I’ll be honest. Blogging for business purposes is hard. You find yourself engulfed in a niche and if you stray away from your topic, it can be hard. Not to mention the guilty feeling you get in the pit of your stomach!
This post doesn’t really fit in with my others. It may be outside of my niche – but that’s okay.
I’m not perfect. I’ve learned a lot in the past 6 months – but there’s so much more to learn! I didn’t have an active social media account when I started this venture. I’ve come so far. But even now, it feels as if I have so far to go.
I need to find motivation to keep going. And if I can, I want to encourage others to keep going as well. How do I find the strength to keep going?
I love listening to music that motivates me and inspires me to keep going – to keep living the life I am because I know it’s the path to take me to where I want to be.
I also try to take it one day at a time and enjoy the little things. Enjoy the smiles on my children’s faces. Enjoy the time I spend outside in the sun.
Today I want to share my favorite motivational songs with you. These are no where near all of them, but it’s my top 7 (for today.) They’ve helped me get up and keep going. I hope you can derrive the same inspiration from them as I do!
Blogging is hard.
Life is hard.
But it’s so worth it!
Enjoy these songs and share this post with your friends or family who need a little more motivation to keep going today!
You can view all these songs on my Motivational Playlist on my YouTube Channel as well. Subscribe and stay updated as I update this playlist!

Are you looking for Real Work you Can Do at Home? Transcription work can be some of the Best Work at Home Jobs you can do comfortably from your own computer. But there are things you need to know about transcription work. Find out the Inside Scoop and what you need to know before signing on with any transcription website!
3 Biggest Critiques or “Hurdles” of Most Entry Level Transcription Jobs
First off, recognize that transcription sites that hire with no experience can be a great place to gain some experience, but don’t put your eggs in one basket.
1.The biggest criticism of beginning transcription sites is that there is not always enough work. That is true. Ideally, you would sign up with multiple sites to increase your chances of having a consistent work load.
2. The second hurdle, is that while the majority of transcription is the same – some companies have different rules for how they want their workers to perform the same tasks. Take time to learn what each company wants!
3. The third critique is that the learning curve can be very difficult – making it hard until you really get the hang of it.
What I Would Do
If transcription work is your thing, then I would suggest learning more about the type of work you will be performing. Transcribe Anywhere offers a free online mini course. I would suggest signing up and at least browsing the courses to see if this is even the type of work you would be happy performing.
Can You Make Money?
That being said, I believe the transcription business can be very lucrative if you know what you are doing. If this is something you really want to pursue, sign up and give it a try!
Once you have experience, the doors could be opened for higher paying gigs that can satisfy a full time income. But, as with any entry level job – especially those ‘online work from home’, expect there to be hurdles and a learning curve you need to push past in the beginning.
Working With CastingWords
CastingWords is another entry level transcription website that will hire newbie transcriptionists to work from home.
It’s a really easy sign up process – it took me about 5 minutes to create an account. There will be an assessment you have to pass – so be sure to look at the Quick Start Guide and the Sample Test before trying to pass it on your own.
Who Can Apply
You can live almost anywhere in the world and as long as you have access to a good internet connection, you can apply to be a transcriber for CastingWords. If you think it’s for you, go ahead and apply now!
While you don’t need any special equiptment or any type of training to get started. BUT, you need to be a patient person and willing to learn. It can take a while before you’re making enough money to validate the time you’re going to spend listening to audio and typing the script.
Before signing up with ANY company, you should look at the reviews left by real people who have experience working with that particular company. Here are some reviews from Glassdoor. The reviews are evenly mixed, but remember, when looking for this type of work you’ll have hurdles – it’s just the industry.
CastingWords Conclusion: 3/5 – So-So
With any job there will be pros and cons. Yes, I would say this is a legit company – but just like buying a used car, “buyer beware,” except instead of spending money, you’re giving up your time.
I would recommend taking the FREE MINI Course, sign up for a couple different transcription websites and see if this is something you want to do long term.
Here is a list of all the work from home companies I recommend including the transcription websites.

As a blogger, you know that Content is KING- but what’s a King without a QUEEN? (Just some vulnerable chess piece waiting to be overtaken by a pawn!) These sites did not require me to ‘sign-up’ or give out my email address
They all state that their pictures can be used for blogs for free and that you can edit them
I found the websites easy to navigate and use
Here is a list of my top 5 choices (only 5 because I find that most websites usually offer the same pictures.)
MMT (a good variety of nature and landscape)
Splitshire (most unique photos)
Bonus Ninja! Branding Your Images
My absolute favorite website for editing my free images is CANVA!
Canva does require you to sign up for a membership BUT it is free. (They do have a paid version, but I have only used the free site).
They offer drag and drop layout designs that are easy to edit.
Canva offers different layouts: from blog titles, social media graphics, LinkedIn Banners, eBook covers, and much more!
If I can’t find a free image or layout inside CANVA, then I

Why A Blog
The first thing you should decide is why you want to start a blog? Is it to make money? Is it to keep an online diary of sorts, or possibly an online portfolio?
My son keeps a blog about the things he is learning in our homeschool so when he goes to college, he’ll have a terrific resume – and experience with blogs and computers!
There are many types of blogs – political, fashion, DIY, life skills, etc.… You can literally find a blog about ANYTHING!
So, why you do want to start a blog? The answer to this question will help you decide on a number factors, from how much time you want to devote to you blog, how you will market your work, and if you want to keep a free blog or pay for your own domain.
Finding a Host Site
There are many FREE site host options when it comes to starting a blog. Each has its own pros and cons along with the complexity of the site builder.
Some of the most popular Free Host Sites Include:
However, if you choose to use a Free Blog site builder, then you will NOT be able to have your own domain.
Hosting Sites V.S. Domain Registration
There is some confusion about a web host verses domain registration. Your web host is the site that you will choose to host your blog on. If this is a FREE web host (Wix, Weebly, WordPress), then your domain will most likely include a (your site name).wix.com, or (your site name).weebly.com, or (your site name).wordpressblog.com.
If you choose to register your domain, you buy the right to use your website as an easily recognizable “.com” name. For example, 6figurehousewife.com.
The cost to buy a domain is fairly cheap – under $20/year.
If you have your own domain, then you will need to find a web host for your domain and most free sites won’t host a domain name. This means you will have to pay for a web host service.
Bluehost offers one of the cheapest domain hosts – you can start with under $4/month.
My Favorite FREE Host
Wealthy Affiliate is a web host service (along with many more features) that will host your WordPress blog as a .siterubix.com for FREE. AND if you choose to host your site in their free feature, you can still use their program as an affiliate (a way to make some money on the side).
If you choose to start a SITERUBIX website, you will also have access to 10 FREE videos that will help you set up your blog and show you how to navigate the back end of a WordPress website (which can be difficult for beginners).
So, do you have a name in mind? Go ahead, type it in and see if it’s available! It’s really THAT Easy!
IF you choose to take advantage of the Wealthy Affiliate Domain host service, then you will also get access to advanced training videos if you want to use your blog for financial gain or monetary purposes. But you DON’T have to pay for anything to get a siterubix website and access to the 10 FREE videos that will help you set up your blog.

Wealthy Affiliate is not necessarily a company that ‘hires’ you. It’s a training program that teaches you how to make money through the means of setting up a website and blog. In fact, this blog is a product of Wealthy Affiliate’s training program. (So yes, I might be a little biased!)
The training can take time, but the end result is very rewarding – creating something from nothing! (Just like this website!)
They will TEACH you how to make money online – some people are making more than $300 per day!
This business takes time to set up and learn, so you must be patient. I will also send you a free guide on what to expect during your first week at Wealthy Affiliate!

If you’re looking for some of the best work at home jobs that are NOT scams, then transcription jobs from home could be a great source of side income! But it’s important to know about a company before applying. Let’s talk about an entry-level transcription opportunity with a popular company – TranscribeMe!
What Is TranscribeMe?
TranscribeMe is a company that translates audio clips into written word files. They hire people to do this work for them by outsourcing it to people just like you who are looking for opportunities to work from home.
Transcription work in general consists of translating audio files into word documents – there are many different kinds of transcription work including legal and medical. For legal and medical work, you need extra training, but with TranscribeMe you can start without any prior experience!
Want to know more about how making money online works? You TOO can be successful online with this FREE 10 lesson video training series! Lay the foundation for your online business today!
What is TranscribeMe About?
TranscribeMe comes highly recommended by popular companies including Money Saving Mom and Women’s Day Magazine!
How to Apply
When you apply to be a contractor for TranscribeMe, you will have to set up your account and then pass an exam consisting of 10 multiple choice questions and translating 3 short audio files.
They provide you with a company manual that you NEED to read if you want to pass the exam. You will have 2 attempts to pass. It’s possible – but I WARN you, they want to make sure you READ the manual – it’s not easy! It’s best to keep the manual open to reference it during the quiz.
TranscribeMe hires worldwide – so anyone can be eligible.
There is no special equipment or any startup costs of any kind in order to be hired. Most transcription companies want you to have a compatible transcription foot pedal, which makes your job easier, but with TranscribeMe it’s not necessary.
You MUST have a PayPal account – this is how you will be paid. But don’t sweat it if you don’t already have one. It’s Free and Easy to set one up. All you need is an email address.
While English doesn’t have to be your primary language, you do need to be able to understand it well enough to transcribe English audio clips since quite a few of their clientele speak English.
You get to work when you want as often as you want.
You don’t need any prior experience.
This could be a great starting point and you can work for other companies later on that require some experience before hiring.
The biggest ‘con’ with this company is the steep learning curve – you need to be accurate and be able to transcribe exactly how the company requires or you will spend a lot of time re-doing your work.
The pay is $20 per audio hour. That means that in the beginning when you’re learning it might take you 2-3 hours to complete one audio hour’s worth of work. But the more you do it, ideally the faster you will become.
They don’t always have jobs available – according to some reviews.
The video series that they ‘recommend’ before applying is very corny and I didn’t find it very helpful. Here is a clip of what they recommend:
Here are some other reviews from the companies employees.
This is a legit company to work for and while there are many complaints, most consist of people not willing to take the time to learn the EXACT way they want you to transcribe the work.
If you’re willing to take the time to learn, this could be a great side income for you!

Have you been searching the internet to find real work at home jobs? There are many companies that hire people to work from home, but finding LEGIT WORK AT HOME JOBS can be difficult! Maybe you’ve even considered transcription work that you can do from home. Well, you’re in luck! If transcription work is something you’ve been wanting to try, here is a company that will hire Entry Level Transcription Workers from home!
What is Transcription Work?
Transcription work consists of listening to audio recordings and then typing what you hear – and sometimes what you don’t hear, i.e. [long-pauses].
Transcription work varies by field – from medical to legal transcription jobs. Specific transcription jobs generally require some sort of training (i.e. medical and/or legal), but there are companies that hire entry level transcriptionist.
Allegis Transcription is one of those companies!
Allegis Transcription works specifically with insurance companies. The work that you would perform at Allegis would be typing up audio regarding insurance property claims. It might not sound like the most thrilling work you can do – but it just might pay those extra bills!
Allegis has been in business over 20 years and is a very reputable company.
If hired, you can have the freedom to choose your hours. The convenient online portal allows you to choose audio files 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
They hire both Entry Level transcriptionist and Experienced Transcriptionists.
What’s it Like to Work At Allegis?
- To be considered you MUST live in the United States.
- You also need a WINDOWS based PC with Word 2010 or higher…sorry Mac users.
- You will need a compatible transcriptionist foot pedal.
- Other requirements from the website include:
If you have what it takes, CLICK HERE to submit your application and apply!
Allegis Transcription Reviews
From what I can tell, Allegis has its perks but as with any other company, it also has its cons.
Some of the Perks include:
It’s a fairly easy job
You get paid on time
The hiring process is simple and easy.
While it doesn’t specifically state on their website, according to Glassdoor Reviews you will make somewhere between $14-$16/hour starting out
This company seems to OVER-HIRE and sometimes there is not a consistent workload
There doesn’t seem to be any way to be ‘promoted’ or move up the pay scale
Here are some reviews from people who have worked for Allegis.
I do want to caution you on their “Featured” review from Glassdoor. This review is from an ‘anonymous’ employee who rated it 5 stars and stated that there are no “cons” to working with this company.
This seems to contradict the other reviews and – in my opinion – seems to be planted there by the company verses from an actual employee. So just a word a word of caution when you find a review like this one – EVERY company has its flaws. It’s just life.
Allegis seems to be a LEGIT work at home company. Since they hire entry-level positions, it might be work a try if you’re looking for work. However, according to the other reviews, I wouldn’t bank on making this your full-time job just yet – since they seem to over-hire. But for a side gig, it might be worth it!
